COASTAL SURVEY VESSEL
The Aluminator is optimized for coastal surveys using state-of the-art navigation and data acquisition systems. Vessel safety equipment meets or exceeds CCG requirements. The vessel is trailer-based and can be rapidly positioned around the coast. With a 1998 200hp Yamaha outboard, the Aluminator can cruise at 26 knots with a 36 knot maximum speed. A unique feature for a vessel of this size is the heated, stand-up cabin (>6 ft headroom), an essential feature for all weather operating capability. Doug Hartley has a 350 ton Masters License and over 25 years of experience on the BC coast having skippered the University of Victorias RV Strickland (relief), Dobrocky Seatechs Sea Lion, the Beatrice, and the Richardson Point. Doug has conducted a wide-range of research cruises including wave-rider and current meter deployments, water sampling, hydrocasting, geophysical surveys, and ROV and underwater video surveys.
