Jodi N. Harney, Ph.D.

Dr. Harney joined CORI in November 2005, coming to British Columbia on a NAFTA work permit. She was formerly a researcher with the U.S. Geological Survey Coastal and Marine Geology Program in Santa Cruz, California.

Dr. Harney's formal training is in biology (B.S., University of Central Florida, 1993), marine science (M.S., University of South Florida, 1996), and geology and geophysics (Ph.D., University of Hawaii, 2000). She has published papers and reports regarding coastal processes, sedimentology and sediment dynamics, reef ecosystems, sediment budgets, and benthic marine habitats in settings that include coastal Alaska, northern California, Hawaii, Florida, and the Red Sea. Her 12 years of experience in research, field operations, writing, and teaching have been directed at the pursuit of an integrated understanding of the relationships between biological and geological systems in coastal and marine settings.

Dr. Harney currently manages the ShoreZone coastal habitat mapping project for Southeast Alaska.
